CALGARY, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Dynetek Industries Ltd. ("Dynetek"), a leader in developing, producing and marketing lightweight compressed hydrogen storage cylinders and compressed natural gas (CNG) storage cylinders, announced today it is the supplier of on-board hydrogen fuel storage systems for Ford's new hydrogen powered V-10, E-450 shuttle bus. The shuttle bus is currently being demonstrated at the 2005 North America International Auto Show in Detroit. Dynetek is providing its certified 350bar (5000psi) storage solution for these hydrogen fueled internal combustion engines.
The Ford hydrogen internal combustion engine (H2ICE) 12-passenger shuttle bus is manufactured with a Ford E-450 cab and powered by a 6.8 litre Triton(TM) V-10 internal combustion engine, modified to run on hydrogen, rather than gasoline. This hydrogen-fueled shuttle bus is an environmentally friendly automotive solution that will find many applications in today's transportation needs, including airport parking and hotel shuttle buses. Ford has also developed an eight passenger shuttle bus with a wheelchair lift. Ford is currently marketing to potential fleet customers and is poised for first deliveries in early 2006.
"We are honored to partner with Ford Motor Company in helping them bridge the fuel cell hydrogen economy with internal combustion engine solutions and thereby lead the way in adoption of low-emission and zero emission technology," said Robb Thompson, Dynetek's President and CEO. "We, along with Ford, believe that H2ICE vehicles will play a key role in justifying infrastructure development and accelerating a transition to a hydrogen economy."
In addition to these ICE shuttle buses, Dynetek also previously delivered the fuel storage systems for on-board complete hydrogen fuel storage systems for Ford Motor Company's 2004 Ford Focus FCV zero emission automobiles.
Dynetek Industries Ltd. designs, produces and markets one of the lightest and most advanced fuel storage and refueling systems for compressed natural gas, low emission vehicles and compressed hydrogen, zero-emission fuel cell vehicles.
